You already have a quality system.
It shows up in what you sample, what counts as evidence and which forms nobody reads. Most of it was inherited.
Providers usually get in touch when:
- an EQA visit has just been booked;
- a new standard or assessment plan has landed;
- nothing’s wrong, but the paperwork has quietly doubled.

Kev has been a huge help in shaping our apprenticeship development work, bringing a practical approach to everything from initial scoping and planning through to the development and review of grading descriptors. He has a real talent for taking requirements and turning them into clear, workable solutions that support both quality and consistency.
Kev listens to different perspectives and works through challenges with a positive attitude. His knowledge, attention to detail and commitment to getting things right have made a real difference, and his contribution has been invaluable to the success of our Sports and Leisure standards. Thank you, Kev! :)

Kevin is an expert in his field. I worked with him at 1st4Sport/UK Coaching. He oversaw credible changes to the quality assurance processes and was very supportive as I stepped into the role of EQA with 1st4Sport. He works supportively with centres and individuals to ensure excellent quality provision for learners and excellent customer care for the centres, while ensuring standards are kept high across the board. Hopefully we will work together again in the future.

Kevin was a breath of fresh air when he came into the role. He took a very person centred approach to learning, he wanted to better understand the consultant team and the challenges that were being faced by us all during quality assurance processes. He took time to build trusting relationships in order to overcome barriers for learners, centres or staff. Very professional in everything he approached and would be an asset to any environment due to his knowledge, skills and professional behaviour at all times.

I’ve seen assessment from every side of the table.
I’m Kevin, an assessment and quality assurance consultant based in County Durham, working with providers across the North East and the rest of England. I’ve been a lecturer, examiner, quality assurance manager and awarding body designer.
I know what an EQA looks for, and what actually helps them see it. I’ll tell you plainly what matters, what doesn’t, and what to do next.
A note on independence. Alongside my consultancy, I work for an awarding organisation. I don’t take on work that would conflict with that role, and we’ll check this together on our first call.
